Pelvic floor physiotherapy is focused on the muscles of the pelvic floor. Pelvic floor muscles are a group of muscles that extend from the pubic bone to the tailbone. These muscles form a sling between the legs and are responsible for supporting the low back, hip joints and pelvic organs (bladder and rectum in men, bladder, uterus and rectum in women). They play a very important role in urination, bowel function and sexual function. Just like other muscles, they can become too weak, too tight or injured.

Injury to the pelvic floor may occur after pregnancy, delivery (vaginal or caesarean), menopause, pelvic/abdominal surgeries, bad falls, chronic infections, gastro-intestinal problems, cancer treatments, prostate changes, sport, exercise, stress, sitting for long periods of time, trauma…the list goes on. Any injury to the pelvic floor could lead to conditions like incontinence, constipation, urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction or pelvic pain disorders. Many of these health issues go unrecognized and untreated due to their embarrassing nature.

Doctors of chiropractic (or chiropractors) are primary contact health professionals qualified to provide hands-on, effective conservative treatment to help manage neuromusculoskeletal conditions, like back pain, neck pain and headaches.

Chiropractic treatments can effectively relieve pain, restore function, and mobility as well improve health outcomes for people of all ages, including children.
Chiropractors emphasize patient safely regardless of age. This is especially true with pediatric patients. When treating infants and children, chiropractors use modified techniques and gentle mobilizations. Many parents comment that it looks like a massage or a wiggle. On bigger kids, Chiropractors will often incorporate interactive activities and games during treatment.

Common conditions seen by a Chiropractor:
Tummy time difficulties
Reflux, Colic symptoms
Breastfeeding + feeding difficulties
Tongue and lip tie assessment
Torticollis
Flat spots (brachycephaly, plagiocephaly)
Constipation
Tension
Difficult births
Asymmetric movement
Favouring one side
Chronic sinus or ear infections
Support meeting motor milestones

Chiropractors are extensively trained, completing a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education. Canadian chiropractors must have completed a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree at an accredited institution, completing a minimum of 4,200 hours of dedicated training and a full year of clinical internship.

It works to balance your nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems, improving your range of motion and relieving discomfort or other symptoms.

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful effect on the body. Research in Australia, Europe and North America has proven its efficacy as a stand-alone treatment and in combination with other therapies.

Manual lymphatic drainage is a manual technique to assist lymph flow, treat inflammation and aid in drainage of tissues.
The skin is stretched and torqued in a specific manner, based on scientific, physiological principles that have proven to encourage lymph flow. If performed correctly with the correct pressure, direction and speed, this can greatly enhance recovery and facilitate drainage. It also has profound effects on systems in the body.

Certified Vodder therapists are expertly trained and require many additional hours of postgraduate training.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is best known to help treat lymphedema but has many other benefits as well. It can be used to help following surgeries, orthopedic injuries, burns, edema, dermatological and other applications.

Courtney was born and raised here in Moncton, by a single mom with chronic disease - it showed her firsthand how little resources there was at the time for women (and still to this day). This has always been a keen interest and has pushed her to having a career in the Health Care field, focusing on women’s health.

Following her university studies at Mount Allison University, she completed a 2200-hour Massage Therapy program at Eastern College, graduating with honours.

Courtney is a member, in good standing, with the Association of New-Brunswick Massage Therapists and the College of Massage Therapy of New-Brunswick. Focusing on a wide variety of conditions; Courtney is very familiar with Infant Craniosacral, TDR-WM Cupping, Deep Tissue, and GuaSha. She also loves following clients throughout their pregnancy/post-partum journey, and their babies thereafter. Courtney has been regularly treating her niece and nephews from infancy and is amazed by the progression babies can make when treated, and is eager to show others that progression with their own families.

Currently Courtney is continuing her education by pursuing her Diploma of Manual Osteopathy and cannot wait to be able to expand her knowledge to further tailor her treatment plans for her clients.

When she’s not practicing, Courtney spends most of her time with her loved ones and animals. In her spare time, you can usually find Courtney out in nature, or attending to her plants.
